Leila is jong, mooi, slim... en dood. Vermoord door haar broer. Een voorstelling van Made in da Shade.
KINGS toerde van 2015 t/m eind januari 2006 door Nederland. In KINGS stappen drie acteurs, Yahya Gaier, Ulrich Tjonatsien en Nasrdin Dchar in een interactieve boksring om ons het verhaal uit de doeken te doen van Leila, haar broer en zijn twee beste vrienden.
KINGS is het verhaal achter een moord, de moord op een meisje door haar broer. Het verhaal is van alle tijden, maar de context is van nu; liefde, jaloezie en wraak in een achterstandswijk. Schrijver Djamel Bara heeft de voorstelling gebaseerd op een incident in een Franse buitenwijk waarbij een jonge Algerijn verklaarde zijn beste vriend vermoord te hebben om de eer van zijn zus. Het heeft destijds in Frankrijk veel stof doen opwaaien. Daarnaast liet Bara zich inspireren door de documentaire When We Were Kings over bokslegende Mohammed Ali.
KINGS is het derde deel van Bara’s trilogie Vrijheid, Gelijkheid en Broederschap, waarvan het tweede deel OFF SIDE (seizoen 2000/2001) ook door Made in da Shade werd geproduceerd.
De muzikale score/soundtrack van de voorstelling wordt geproduceerd en gemixt door The Flexican, DJ en producer (Flinke Namen) met gastvocalisten als Flinke Namen, Typhoon, Rfx, Pete Philly, Big Boy Caprice, Blaxtar en Juiceisdunaam. Luister HIER.
